Final assessment (Annex I, 3.2). Every item/assembly must undergo a visual/document check and a pressure test (normally hydrostatic); for assemblies, safety devices are also checked.

Who performs it? The manufacturer performs the final assessment. For higher categories and quality-assurance modules, a notified body monitors/inspects; in some cases it performs or has the final assessment performed.

CE marking & DoC. When conformity is demonstrated, the manufacturer issues the EU declaration of conformity and affixes CE marking (with the notified-body number if involved in production control).
